Spent the Christmas weekend taking some photos, enjoying lunch and a walk with a friend and at the doctor’s. Tried my hands at taking photos with the lomo effect and it turned out surprisingly well.

The green tea ice cream tasted strange, somewhat too sweet for a green tea ice cream.

Symmetry, food and a friend

Took some random photos when I was out yesterday.

I love the colour of the table, seemingly fresh and yet the condition so worn out.

When it comes to taking people’s photo or photos of people in general, I like the shadows. She didn’t pose like this on purpose, being camera-shy she avoided the camera.

And the food, of course.

Rosli Mansor

Rosli Mansor is first and foremost, a deeply passionate and soulful guitarist who believes strongly in the power of instrumental music.

I met him as my teacher, and now I work alongside with him on his career as a guitar instrumentalist. Now in the midst of recording his sophomore instrumental album, I had been given the oppotunity to capture some very memorable moments in the studio.

The photos were taken on various cameras: a Canon Powershot S5 IS, a loaned NikonD50 from a friend and my own Canon EOS 500D.

Totally unplanned, this picture looked like a scene taken out of a noir film.

There is a short story I used to study in Literature class and it talks about how no one looks at the feet. And truly, the feet has its wonderful stories to tell.

Black and white, spotlight, shadows. I love such settings in that you can’t never really see the full picture, leaving one in suspense.

The man, Rosli Mansor. And his muse, a tailor-made double neck electric guitar, with his titular song character Rukia (from “Rescuing Rukia”, a popular song from his debut instrumental album Dragged) gracing the guitar’s body.

Rosli’s producer and drummer, Keyjohan Ismail, getting into character for a very enjoyable recording session.

This jovial person is Azman Nirwan, Rosli’s co-producer and bassist for the album. His gaiety never fails to lit up the sometimes serious atmosphere in the recording studio.

Rosli’s well-used and beautifully-aged electric guitar. His guitar technician drew Rosli’s logo over sticky tape and pasted on the guitar’s body.

Phuket’s night life, food and beaches

It was the first time I brought a DSLR overseas and it visited Phuket, Thailand for the first time.

Shir O’Fish was my travelling companion and she became my model on this trip as well. She’s a natural in front of the camera and it was easy taking pictures of her.

Tom Yum Soup is synonymous with Thai culture and for my first attempt at food photography, I could not miss out taking a photo of the tongue-numbing and delicious soup.

Tsunami notwithstanding, Phuket’s beaches are amazing and I always enjoy taking the divide of the vast sky, rolling ocean and white sand.

This picture is one of my personal favourites, echoing the feeling of emptiness under the neverending canopy of the sky.
